Electronica is a catch-all term that refers to any music that is overtly electronic, or influenced by electronic sounds, instruments, and music. The term was apparently coined in reference to the electronic rock band Republica, but has since gained a life of its own, and is currently used to refer to a wide range of genres, including house, downtempo, IDM, techno, and trip-hop.
